Mental Health

Eleanor Bobrow talked to individuals active in the Lehigh Conference of Churches about resources in the community that help people deal with mental health illness and addiction as a spiritual journey. Eleanor's guests were Larry Pickens, Director of the Lehigh Conference of Churches since 2014, and Christina DiPierro, Director of the Daybreak program since 2012.

For more than 60 years, the Lehigh Conference of Churches has brought together area congregations in responding to the needs of  "the least among us" while building ecumenical and interfaith partnerships.

Our topic, mental illnesses, is very much in the news:  Are state hospitals still an option?  Nowadays we hear of "recovery."  What does that mean?  How are Lehigh and Northampton counties involved?

John Pearce's guests are county administrators for mental health, Andrew Grossman (Northampton County) and Richard Orlemann (Lehigh County).

Dr. Borten maintains that joy and meaning come from learning to embrace these three fundamental principles.
