On Galactic Travels, the Special Focus for January is Bouvetøya, the electronic music avatar of Michael Jones of Carlow, Ireland. Influenced by the pioneers of electronica such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, and the sound creators of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, Michael adds contemporary influences from Boards of Canada, AIR, and FSOL. His first ambient soundscape demos circulated among his fellow EM peers who encouraged him. His music is released on SynGate Records and he is a veteran of many live performances.
