Megan Everett has been the regular Friday host of Morning Edition, the local NPR News show, since June 1st, 2012.
Her love of a wide variety of musical genres, combined with a very low tolerance for used car commercials, led her to start listening to WDIY soon after moving to the Lehigh Valley in 2001.
She first volunteered in 2009, as an alternate host for her favorite music program on WDIY, Celtic Faire, which is heard here every Thursday at 7pm.
She also began producing the program's Celtic calendar, which consists of highlights from the online calendar of traditional Irish and Scottish music events she created in 2008 at www.LehighValleyCeltic.com
Megan's always been drawn to people who really care about what they do, and her appreciation for WDIY's staff and volunteers grew as she met more of them and became aware of how hard they work to make it all happen.
Having not grown up in the Lehigh Valley, she also loves the the way WDIY is always introducing her to local artists and musicians, news stories, history, businesses, and community events.
She now performs in a 4-member Celtic band www.PipersRequest.com with Celtic Faire's host Rick Weaver. And thanks to her volunteer work at WDIY, she had the opportunity to begin emceeing at local Celtic music concerts and the annual Celtic Classic music festival.
Megan's really got the bug now; between volunteering on-air and at concerts and producing podcasts and webinars as part of her small business consulting services.
She's currently working on her interviewing skills in hopes of soon contributing to WDIY's mission to bring its listeners more of the kinds of local stories that are of particular interest to them.
She's looking forward to being part of the WDIY family of volunteers for a long time to come!
