WDIY Announces 2017 Member Representative Election Meeting

WDIY is pleased to announce that our annual Membership Representative Election Meeting will take place at WDIY on November 13, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

WDIY on-air volunteer Ashleigh Strange is the one candidate pursuing the opportunity to join the Lehigh Valley Community Broadcasters Association Board of Directors as a WDIY Member Representative. The purpose of the Member Representative position is to provide a voice to the station's volunteers and WDIY members on the Board of Directors. All members are invited to attend and vote.

Board President, Karen El-Chaar, will also provide updates about WDIY at the beginning of the meeting.

Muhlenberg College will present Stephen Sondheim's musical, Sunday in the Park with George, from  Friday, October 27 to Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Empie Theatre, Baker Center for the Arts. On this edition of Musings, host Kenn Michael talks with director James Peck who is also professor of theatre arts at Muhlenberg.

Sondheim's rarely-produced musical is based on a famous painting by Georges Seurat and centers on two artists who both strive to create masterpieces nearly a century apart.

On this edition of Lehigh Valley Discourse, host John Pearce talks with Dr. Shannan Schuster who is in her first year as Head of School at The Swain School and has already implemented initiatives to foster learning from pre-K through 8th grade.

They discuss what's happening at The Swain School and described the three-part Parenting Education Series, open to the public.  The Swain School in Allentown has a history dating back to 1929. It is one of the premier private schools in the Lehigh Valley.

Previewing TEDxLehighRiver 2017 with Lisa Getzler

Host John Dodds speaks with Lisa Getzler about what's in store for TEDxLehighRiver 2017. Getzler is the Executive Director of the Baker Institute at Lehigh University and one of the organizers of TEDxLehighRiver.

TEDx talks are independently organized TED talks that take place throughout the world. This will be TEDxLehighRiver's fifth year, and the 2017 event will feature eight speakers. The theme is "At Our Fingertips: Ideas that are within reach, and that can be embraced."

Host Sally Handlon spoke with guests Richard Master, the Chairman and CEO of MCS Industries, and Vince Mondillo, the producer/director/writer from Mondillo Productions, about their second Fixit Healthcare documentary entitled “Big Pharma" Market Failure.”
