Host Kenn Michael spoke with author Neil Gaiman before his appearance at Muhlenberg College as part of the college's Living Writers series.  Gaiman later gave a public reading of his work on November 16th at Muhlenberg's Empie Theatre, Center for the Arts.

WDIY Classics host Karen El-Chaar speaks with Dr. Stephen Sametz, Lehigh University Choral Arts Artistic Director, about his oratorio "A Child's Requiem."  Dedicated to those killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on December 14, 2012, Newtown, Connecticut, the libretto is based on writings of elementary school children in response to tragedy and loss.

"A Child's Requiem" will be performed at Zoellner Arts Center, November 6th & 7th at 8PM in Baker Hall.

Honoring Veterans by Aiding Veterans on LV Discourse

Jason (Jake) Leone, founder of Vets for Vets, a private non-profit organization located in Pennsburg, Pa. dedicated to assisting homeless veterans, and Tom Applebach, Director of the Lehigh County Office of Veterans Affairs, joined host Pamela Varkony.
 

Nathan Kline, founding member of the L.V. Military Affairs Council, and Lisa Kaye, Women's Veteran's Coordinator for Monroe County, were interviewed by phone for the program, which focused on the many services and support groups available for veterans in the greater Lehigh Valley.

On Galactic Travels, the Special Focus for November is Meesha.

Inspired by the music of Tangeine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, Vangelis, and Kraftwerk, MEESHA started composing his own music in the early '90s.  He is a veteran of the German Electronic Circus Festival and has won a few Schalwelle Awards, including Best Newcomer.

Laurie Siebert and her guest, Matthew Petrozelli, Executive Vice President and COO of Valley National Financial Advisors, discussed: "What's new in managing your investment accounts?"

Artists appearing at Allentown Art Museum's Cocktails & Collecting on November 7th discussed the upcoming event and their work. This year marks the tenth anniversary of the Museum's fall fundraising event which aims to offer the perfect mix of art, hors d’oeuvres, collecting and socializing. Artists throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond have been invited to showcase. They will talk about and sell their works, and some will even create their artwork live at the event.
