Honoring Artist Hubert Davis on LV Arts Salon

Penn State Lehigh Valley has organized a timely community-wide collaboration/exhibition celebrating the work of Hubert Davis (1902-1981), an American lithographic artist who used much of his work to communicate the effects of the Depression, and whose lithographs were published by the New York branch of the W.P.A. - Works Progress Administration.  

The Open World Animation Fest on LV Arts Salon

The Alternative Gallery, located in Allentown's Cigar Factory art space, plays host this month to the Open World Animation Fest, back for its second year and growing fast, featuring over 100 animators and hundreds of films from around the world from March 23-26.

"Women's March: 16 Photographers" on LV Arts Salon

"Women's March: 16 Photographers" is the new exhibit that opened at artist/gallery owner Ann Schlegel's Studio 740 during downtown Allentown's recent Third Thursday downtown arts event.  

Ann joins hosts George Miller and Kate Scuffle to talk about Studio 740 and this topical new exhibit, while artist/curator Deborah Rabinsky fills us in on the exciting, evolving Third Thursdays and the downtown Allentown art scene.

Host Kenn Michael speaks with George B. Miller and Kate Scuffle, founders of Selkie Theatre, about the US premiere of two plays, "Fragile" and "Dalgety," presented by "Selkie: Theatre Uncut" as part of the Ice House Tonight series at the Ice House in Bethlehem.  These two funny yet powerful pieces by Scotland's David Greig were first commissioned for the UK's exciting Theatre Uncut project, winner of Edinburgh Fringe First and Spirit of the Fringe awards, in response to drastic cuts in UK arts funding in 2010 and as a means of encouraging artists to band together.

Hosts George Miller and Kate Scuffle talk with writer Geoff Gehman about his newest book, “Kingdom of the Kid”, a memoir of growing up in the long-lost Hampton’s of the 1960’s.   Bethlehem Fine Arts Commission’s Vince Gentilcore also joins them to talk about “Reflections: A Self-Portrait Show”, the popular BFAC exhibit currently hanging at the Rotunda Gallery in Bethlehem’s City Hall.
