On the Next Galactic Travels 2016-06-02

June 2, 2016, marks the 1000th broadcast of Galactic Travels. To celebrate, Robert Rich's landmark eight hour recording Perpetual - A Somnium Continuum will be played in only two parts. The first six hours will be played in a marathon broadcast starting on June 2 and the remainder will be played later this month.

Perpetual is the eight hour follow up to the epic recording Somnium. As far as it is known, Somnium has received only one complete play on the radio and that was on Galactic Travels #211, broadcast on April 5, 2001.

Famous for his legendary Sleep Concerts, Robert Rich created both Somnium and Perpetual in the same vein.  The idea is to let the music incorporate itself into your perceptual framework during the night, to create a sonic surround, an environment for unique states of consciousness.
