"The Post," which tells a "ripped-from-the-headlines" story that happened in 1971 with the publication of the top-secret Pentagon Papers, has two Oscar nominations: Best Picture and Best Actress (Meryl Streep, who plays Washington Post newspaper publisher Katharine Graham). Steven Spielberg directs with an ear and eye toward the deadline-vibrancy that explores the competing interests behind the big story. Tom Hanks is stellar as Post editor Ben Bradlee.
