Moreland And Arbuckle On Mountain Stage

Guitarist Aaron Moreland and vocalist/harmonica player Dustin Arbuckle met at an open mic in Wichita, Kan., in 2001, and have been playing together in various capacities ever since. The band brings a pared-down, lo-fi edge to elements of traditional Delta blues, rock, country and soul that will no doubt remind some listeners of The Black Keys and The White Stripes.

This is Moreland & Arbuckle's first appearance on Mountain Stage. Backed by only by drummer Kendall Newby, the trio plays a four-song set that draws from its 2011 album Just a Dream. For two songs, Moreland can be heard playing a handmade electric cigar-box guitar — a throwback to a tool commonly used by early-1900s bluesmen, who were too poor to afford the real thing.
