Host Bill Dautremont-Smith talks with legendary guitarist and bandleader John McLaughlin from the south of France, where he was preparing for a US tour with his current band The Fourth Dimension that takes on the Bonaroo Festival and Washington DC before coming to the Musikfest Cafe on Monday, June 17. John talks at length about his early career in England, moving to New York, and the amazingly productive period in 1969 and the early seventies with Tony Williams Lifetime, Miles Davis, the albums he recorded as a leader, and the formation of the groundbreaking Mahavishu Orchestra, followed by the acoustic Indian-influenced quartet Shakti.
