Mike credits WDIY for the successfulness of his current radio career. An alumni of Kutztown University with a degree in Telecommunications, Mike interned his last semester in 1999 at WDIY, which never left his heart. Staying on as a volunteer for a couple of years beyond, Mike eventually wound up working part-time at other radio stations in the Allentown and Reading markets doing various tasks including on-air. In 2004, the administration of Kutztown University made the decision to revive their long-dormant campus radio station. Mike was hired as station manager/advisor and has been there since. Kutztown University Radio (KUR) (88.3 FM/1670 AM) went on-the-air in 2004 and in its eight years on-air, has quickly become north-eastern Berks County’s premier non-profit full-service student-operated radio station with 24-hour music, talk, news, and information. Mike credits his and KUR’s success to the foundation he learned at WDIY way back in the 1990s. Mike considers his representative position on the WDIY board as his way of giving back to WDIY and sharing ideas between two quite similar radio stations.
